BURIAL AT SEA AND ASH SCATTERING
A San Diego Burial at Sea (the scattering of ashes, cremated remains) is a beautiful, respectful and inexpensive alternative to burial on land. It is a somber time, but for almost every family, it is a time of peace and a time for contemplation in the quiet serenity of the sea, as we sail silently from the San Diego Bay into the Pacific Ocean.
Ash scattering on the Pacific Ocean is an attractive option to other forms of interment for many
reasons; affordability, a return to nature, a love of the everlasting sea, the wishes of the deceased and land conservation are among the reasons for selecting a burial at sea (ash scattering) for the final disposition of cremated remains.
For families wishing to plan their own memorial voyage, Shelter Island Sailing can provide a beautiful, private sailing yacht and an experienced, licensed captain. You select the time, place and arrangements and invite family and guests. We have a wide selection of vessels and can help you plan every detail of this special memorial. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages or we can arrange dinners or luncheons and can furnish a variety of catering options.
As an added benefit of chartering with our company, we offer our guests the opportunity to spend the rest of the day or evening aboard the yacht at Shelter Cove Marina, following the ash scattering, at no additional cost.
Shelter Island Sailing will carefully evaluate your needs and desires and will work closely with you to help insure a fitting memorial occasion. We will provide a carefully chosen captain with the licensing and experience to provide a safe, comfortable and memorable experience.
Please contact us to discuss our available options and to allow us to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to helping you plan your memorial service.
